


Sacred Sisterhood: A Winter Grounding Retreat for BIPOC Women

As the new year unfolds, we invite you to join us for a deeply grounding 2-night winter retreat from February 6th through 8th 2026, designed exclusively for BIPOC women (Black, Indigenous, and women of color). This sacred gathering will be held at the serene Claytor Nature Center Eco Lodge in Bedford, Virginia, where cozy single bed accommodations, nourishing meals, and holistic healing await. Together, we will explore pathways of grounding and connection—through movement, breath, creativity, ancestral wisdom, and community support. This retreat is a space to release, recharge, and return to yourself.

Why This Retreat?
This retreat is more than just a weekend getaway—it is an intentional space for BIPOC women for nervous system grounding, healing, and reconnection. Guided by BIPOC facilitators rooted in holistic practices, you’ll learn tools to regulate the body, recognize and release stored stress, and deepen your connection to self and others. Whether through movement, ceremony, creativity, or quiet reflection in nature, you’ll leave with practices and real tools that support long-lasting integration into daily life. There will also be a spring virtual connection call with the retreat group and facilitators to maintain community and connection.

Meet the retreat facilitators below. Each one of the facilitators brings a unique blend of professional expertise, lived experience, and personal wisdom to create a rich and supportive experience for every guest.

Luisi Cano is the Founder of Padme Wellness, LLC where she provides mental health counseling as well as Flow Breathwork, and psychedelic preparation and integration services. She enjoys time spent outdoors gardening and growing food for her community, as well as connecting to the land and nature by backpacking with her partner as well as her dog, Padme. Luisi is passionate about promoting and providing equitable access to mental health treatments, particularly to BIPOC communities which have been historically hurt by capitalism and the War on Drugs. Luisi graduated from Virginia Tech with a BS in Human Development, MS in Human Development, and MA Ed. in Counselor Education. She is also an EMDR-trained clinician and has completed a Certificate in Psychedelic Assisted Therapies and Research through the California Institute of Integral Studies, MDMA-Assisted Therapy training through the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, Ketamine-Enhanced Internal Family Systems experiential training among other psychedelic-related trainings. Luisi is also trained in Flow Breathwork and has held group and individual sessions online and in person. She has extensive experience working in Community Mental Health. Her specialties include Substance Use Disorders, Mental Health Crises, Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies, and Trauma-Informed treatments. Luisi enjoys reflection, sewing, gardening, movement like Pilates or yoga and backpacking.

Dr. Karena J. Heyward is a dedicated Counselor Educator with a passion for training and mentoring future mental health counselors. She holds a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, an MEd in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling, and a BS in Psychology, which ground her expertise in the complexities of mental health. Her work is shaped by anti-racist, anti-oppressive, developmental, somatic, and liberation psychology perspectives, with a focus on creating systemic change in both education and counseling. Beyond her academic role, she leads her consulting practice, Head to Heart, LLC, supervises counseling residents toward licensure, and serves as Director of Mental Health Services at the Virginia Telemental Health Initiative. Outside of her professional work, she is a loving partner and devoted dog mom who also enjoys plants, Legos, and traveling. She embraces life’s mysteries through dream interpretation, astrology, tarot, and the study of ATRs/ADRs. Known for her colorful language and frequent f-bombs, she values safety and authenticity in all her relationships, and those lucky enough to call her a friend are considered family.

Nyomi Roth, LPC (she/her) is a lover of learning, astrology, nature, yoga, and travel. Nyomi is the owner of Soul Centered Healing LLC, her psychotherapy practice, and Sacred Light Alchemy LLC, her reiki, sound, and spiritual guidance practice. Holding a BS in Psychology, MEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a License as a Professional Counselor in Virginia, Nyomi integrates somatic embodiment, transpersonal and Jungian techniques, mindfulness, and creative healing practices to support clients in their unique journeys. She is a trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ and gender-affirming practitioner who creates a safe space for healing and empowerment. Her training and professional background includes certifications in Somatic Embodiment, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Gottman Method Level II Couples Therapy, and holistic trainings with a 265-hour Hatha Yoga Certification, Reiki Level II certification, and Sound Healing certification to name a few. Blending evidence-based practices with holistic modalities, Nyomi continues to expand her skills, guided by intuition, values, and a lifelong commitment to learning. Nyomi is a devoted partner, dog mom to her toy poodle Obi, a proud plant mom, and deeply values her tribe of loved ones as both a family member and friend.

Ineka is the owner of WellnessWithWaller™, a holistic wellness brand created to help people heal, reset, and align with their authentic selves. Through sound baths, group workshops, and one-on-one coaching, the brand provides accessible tools for nervous system healing, stress relief, and sustainable transformation. Certified in Sound Healing through Life-Changing Energy and as a Health Coach through ISSA, Ineka Waller brings both expertise and lived experience to her work. Having holistically healed her body and achieved remission from Type 2 diabetes, she understands the power of intentional wellness practices firsthand. Each offering is designed to create a safe and restorative space where individuals can release, restore, and reconnect. Guided by the belief that wellness is vital in sustaining one’s purpose, WellnessWithWaller™ empowers people to embrace balance, resilience, and wholeness. Ineka is certified Sound Healer through Life-Changing Energy and a certified Health Coach through ISSA. Beyond my professional training, she brings the lived experience of holistically healing her body and achieving remission from Type 2 diabetes. Through sound baths, group workshops, and one-on-one coaching, she create spaces that support nervous system healing, balance, and sustainable transformation. Ineka’s mission is rooted in the belief that wholeness is vital in sustaining one’s purpose. Outside of her wellness routines, Ineka enjoys traveling to national parks, spending time in nature, reading and writing, and attending music events.
